Player Etiquette

In an effort to make the game flow well and maximize our time, I've got a few expectations for how we want to interact on the table - these are captured here:
- In general play:
- Know what your stuff does. I can certainly clarify things if necessary, but the more you understand what your character can do, the better off you are and the smoother things flow.
- Dice rolls are always indicated for a single character, unless otherwise identified by the GM. If a player comes up with a cool action, let them be cool! No piling in - that's their moment to shine, or not.
- Rather than piling in, you may help/assist another character on any die roll - if they permit the assistance, and you can justify it.
- Share the spotlight. Give everyone a chance to shine.
- Offer advice, not orders - when it's someone else's turn, shut up and let them do their thing. This may be the 'wrong' thing, but it's their choice as a character and a player.
- While intraparty conflict is fine, it is expected that players play together toward a common goal. Keep that in mind.
- Retreat is a viable option. Don't be afraid to take it - if you need to head back to town, head back to town. Be mindful of pressing someone else's luck.
- In combat:
- When you're next in line, plan your action- be ready with what you want to do on your turn, and stay engaged with the table. If you take an excessive amount of time, you limit the game for everyone else; I will force a dodge action if you dither!
- Be descriptive. Don't just say 'I hit the bad guy' - tell us what you do! Roar! Use the scenery! This is how you get inspiration! Tell me what your spells look like, and how you cast them!
- Roll with misfortune. Bad things happen, and characters may get hurt, have dire consequences, or even die! it's okay - hop right back in and see what happens next!
- At the end of a session:
- Stay long enough to divide up your treasure and work through the postgame kudos.
- Keep your character sheet up to date and accurate: this is how we all have the most fun.
