Clan Hawthorne - The Bears
With a device of bears rampant surrounding a knight on a green field, the Hawthornes have been called “Bears” since the War, and are likely never going to escape the colloquialism. The one House with the widest holdings, the Bears are generally made up of survivalists, hunters, rangers, and the Druidic Orders that survived the war.
The Bears maintain and build roads, support settlements, and run caravans through the dark spaces between the villages they protect. They maintain a network of hostels and healers in the lands of Tintagel, and are generally keepers of the people, well-respected by those in their care, and generally regarded as honest, if clannish, folk.
They’re known to have the current largest repository of arcane knowledge – sorcerers and druids are common in their number – and some rumors persist that the last of the surviving magi from the Great College found their way into this house’s service.
Bears value independence, knowledge, loyalty, self-sacrifice, and personal honor.
Current Events:
The Bears were all but wiped out several centuries ago, and with the memory of stone and earth still bear a grudge against the Rats that intervening time has done nothing to lessen. In the Reach, the Bears are interested in mysteries of nature, and their current representative pays handsomely for lost druidic lore, locations of power, or natural artifacts.
