Maps, Intelligence, and Discovery:

Unlike many other games, I, as the GM, won't be providing you with world maps, area maps, or even dungeon/delve maps during the course of play. I will provide combat/encounter maps (And these may have exploration hints) and you may find maps in the world that may or may not be accurate.

However, if you - meaning all of the Players in the Player Roster - want to see the world? It falls on you to do some mapping of your own. There are tools in the VTT to do so (and I'm glad to teach them to you if you'd like to use them), or you can use manual means - the classic graph or hex paper and pencils - to do your own mapping.

Similarly, journals, notes, adventure records - these are available to you in the VTT and can be taken externally as well. If you need to remember the name of a faction? Maybe it's a good idea to take a note or two.

For both? It's likely a good idea to capture them and share them on the wiki and the Discord.

But.. why?

Versimillitude:

This is your world, not mine. While I'll describe things accurately - it really is up to you or a member of your party to take on those tasks that an adventurer would need to take on. Are you going to rely on your memory to remember the turns back to the entrance of that cave when the monsters from below are coming? Do you really remember which mountain had that ruin that you wanted to find?

Responsibility:

Let me stress - while I may be laying it out, this is ultimately your world. I want you to share world maps with each other, to talk about what you're discovering - and you're going to need to come up with your own objectives, direction, and considerations. Knowing what's out there, documenting and sharing it? That's part of the game model - you are the ones that need to remember what you know.

Some of those feats....

It also drives home the importance of some of the feats that take this burden off of you. Feats like perfect recall? They'll allow me to supply that thing you can't remember but your player would. Perfect sense of direction? Much harder to get lost - and remembering your way out is easy.

Experience!

Logging/journalling/mapping.. and posting those to the community? They grant character experience!

This world is yours to remember, and you are writing the records of its history.
